  • Plenty of small problems... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I was ready to get rid of this car after a year because I have never owned a brand new car that had so many problems. In a period of 6 months, I had to take the car back to the dealer 4 times to fix a water leak in the moonroof. The drivers door seal had a tear in it that was there since the day I had the car, and after the seal was replaced, I had to put up with the worse wind-noise. When I took the car back to the dealership to ask them to look into this problem, they informed me that they were unable to reproduce the problem, so they could not fix it. I do like driving my car, but I would not buy another Chrysler/Jeep again.

Great looking SUV. Handles nicely. Comfortable for my long commute to work, especially with my heated seats on winter mornings.

  • Best Vehicle Ive Owned - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive owned 2 Mercedes, a BMW, 2 Hondas, GMs, Fords, and a partridge in a pear tree ... I test drove the Avalon, Chrysler 300 Touring, Acura TL, and Infinity G35. This Laredo RWD 3.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best vehicle Ive owned or could even buy for $10,000 more. We bought a *2nd one* for me after just 2 months after getting the wifes 05 Laredo! Power is great, handling as good as my E300, library quiet, turns on a dime, comfortable and supportive front seats, gray plastic dash reminds me of "das hinterland" but is durable, incredible standard stereo, ultra solid and safe feel, total driver control, MUCH more value than the dollars I paid. I cannot see forking over $35k when I got these for $25k each.

Dont get me wrong, I absolutely adore my Jeep. I love how it drives, looks, and all the features. It has been my favorite car so far, BUT it has SO many problems!! The sunroof leaks, the dust cover around the shifter broke, windshield washer fluid squirter broke off, the button to open the back hatch glass broke, and it sounds like the transmission is having problems!! for only being 4 years old I had assumed i bought a lemon! Also it seems that there is hardly any room in the back seat.

  • Great Vehicle - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Grand Cherokee. I have owned this vehicle for over one year, no problems at all. The only time it sees the service department is for the oil change and tire rotation. This has a great new look and all the comforts one could expect. I love, love it, get lots of compliments. I have the Hemi and as long as I do not gun the engine too often I get 17 mpg in town and about 19 mpg on the road, not bad for a car with so much power. If you like the Jeep, you will love this one.

  • Truck Died on Testdrive - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

So I will say that I always absolutely loved the grand cherokees until I got to drive one; the quality is horrible. I went to test drive a beautiful black 05 4x4. For the first 5 minutes of the test drive, I was in love. The car was cool and looked good from the outside and the interior was nicely appointed. Then when I stopped at a traffic light, all of a sudden, the certified pre-owned truck died and had to be towed. We went back to the lot and I picked out another one and this other one wouldnt start. At this time I decided to leave and forget about buying a Jeep at all. Again, these were 2 certified pre-owned jeeps with less than 30,000 miles that broke down while I was trying to buy

  • I Love Jeeps... BUT! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have had this JGC for 10 months. Within that time I have had to send it in for 2 major repairs. This car has already cost me $1,700 to fix and according to the mechanic, who just replaced my starter, servos and battery, I will be needing a new Water Pump soon. Thats another $600 fix. In addition to the mechanical fixes there are several issues that I have let slide, including burnt out LEDs in the dash ($150 to repair), window motor broken, AC not getting cold, and door lock getting stuck. This Jeep has been a NIGHTMARE. Ive owned 4 jeeps and will probably never buy another one again.

  • OUTSTANDING! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have been extraordinarily pleased with it. I did have some concerns over Jeeps choice of transmissions for it, (it is a Mercedes transmission) but it has done just fine. My wife adores it too.

  • Lemon? - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 4.7L engine in February of 2009. It had odd electrical issues - the message center would constantly tell me to "service the 4WD system" but I never used the 4X4 and the rear passenger side window wouldnt roll up after being rolled down. And the car got terrible gas mileage! My previous Jeep, a 1999 model had gotten great mileage and I never had problems with it. It was a great car! Then my boyfriend totaled my 05 Jeep. To replace it, I decided on an 05 Limited with the 5.7 (Hemi). And this new one stinks too! Gas mileage is even worse, and the passenger side window wont roll up. Plus, the car leaks when it rains. I used to love JEEP!

  • First Jeep! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Smooth is the operative word when describing this vehicle. The suspension dampens imperfections in the road well, and the rack and pinion steering provides a solid and responsive road feel. The all-wheel drive grabs pavement with gusto and on tight roads this SUV is very nimble with minimal body roll. The Grand Cherokees seats are firm and supportive, and the two-tone perforated leather looks quite contemporary. Wood trim on the center console and door panels is very upscale.
